Birthday Celebrations

At Lawrence Avenue Elementary, inclusion is one of our most important values. We believe every child deserves to feel welcomed, appreciated, and celebrated. Beginning this year, the main office will help make each child’s birthday extra special.

Morning Announcements: Every student’s birthday will be recognized during our morning announcements. If a birthday falls on a weekend or during the summer, we will celebrate it during the weekly announcements before their special day.

Visit to the Main Office: On their birthday, students will be invited to the main office, where they will:

• Receive a special birthday pencil
• Choose a book to keep and enjoy

Birthday Snacks: Sending in birthday treats is completely optional. If you would like to send a snack for your child to share with the class, please remember:

• Only individually wrapped, store-bought items are allowed.
• Please avoid snacks with peanuts to help keep all students safe.
• Please refrain from sending in party bags or other favors during school hours.

Birthday Treat Cupboard: To ensure that every child can celebrate their special day, we are starting a birthday treat cupboard stocked with store-bought, non-perishable snacks. If you’re able to contribute, please send prepackaged, individually portioned snacks to school with your child, or drop them off at the main office. This helps us make sure every birthday feels special, even if a student is unable to bring in a treat from home.

Birthday Invitations: We encourage families to plan birthday celebrations outside of school hours to help foster friendships and positive interactions among students. To help all students feel included, students may hand out birthday invitations at school only if the entire class is invited to the celebration.
