Parent Curriculum Letter

English Language Arts (ELA): At Lawrence Avenue, we use the Bookworms curriculum, a literacy program grounded in the latest research on reading instruction. Alongside Bookworms, we also use the 95% Phonics Core Program, which supports effective literacy development across grades. These programs are designed to help your child become a skilled and confident reader.

Mathematics: At Lawrence Avenue Elementary, we are committed to providing high-quality mathematics instruction through Reveal Math. This comprehensive program helps students build a deep understanding of mathematical concepts while developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and reasoning skills. Reveal Math is designed to meet the diverse needs of all learners, providing engaging instruction and meaningful learning experiences that prepare students for continued success in mathematics and beyond.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): At Lawrence Avenue Elementary, we prioritize social and emotional learning through the Positivity Project, also known as “P2.” This program teaches students about positive character traits and how they can contribute to a supportive school community. This year, we’re expanding on P2 with our new motto: “Stellar Sandstoners,” which is supported by four essential guidelines:

  • Learn and Grow From Mistakes
  • Use Kind Words and Actions
  • Do Your Best
  • Build Positive Relationships

These principles will be integrated into our daily lessons to help students develop strong character and interpersonal skills.

Academic Intervention Services (AIS): At Lawrence Avenue Elementary, we are committed to ensuring every student receives the support they need to be successful. All students receive high-quality Tier 1 instruction in the classroom. When additional support is needed, students may receive Tier 2 or Tier 3 interventions based on their individual learning needs.

For English Language Arts, we utilize the 95% Phonics Intervention Program to provide targeted instruction in foundational reading skills. In mathematics, we use Number Worlds to strengthen number sense, computation, and mathematical reasoning through individualized intervention.

If your child receives Tier 2 or Tier 3 intervention services, you will receive an AIS progress report each quarter along with your child’s report card. These interventions are designed to provide targeted support, monitor student progress, and help every learner reach their full potential.
