Peanut and Tree Nut Allergy Information

At Lawrence Avenue Elementary, the health and safety of all students is our highest priority. Some of our students have severe peanut and tree nut allergies that can cause life-threatening reactions. We appreciate your partnership in providing a safe learning environment for everyone.

To support the safety of students with allergies:

  • Classrooms with students who have severe peanut or tree nut allergies are designated as peanut- and tree nut-free classrooms.
  • All classroom snacks, including daily snacks and treats brought in for celebrations or special events, must be store-bought, in their original packaging, and free of peanuts and tree nuts.
  • Please do not send snacks containing peanuts or tree nuts for classroom consumption.
  • Students may bring peanut or tree nut products for lunch; however, those items must be eaten outside of the designated peanut- and tree nut-free seating area in the cafeteria.
  • Students are expected to wash their hands after lunch to help prevent accidental exposure in classrooms and shared spaces.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all students. If you have any questions regarding food allergies or classroom procedures, please contact our School Nurse, Savannah Martinez, at (315) 265-2000, ext. 36244.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep every child safe and healthy.
