Start and end each day with friends!

Our philosophy is to provide a safe, nurturing environment for your child before and after the school day centered around play and socialization.

Program Information

Latch Key is our before and after school childcare offered to assist families. It is open to students in Grades PreK – 4. Students must reside in/be enrolled at the Potsdam CSD.

  • Morning Latch Key runs from 7 – 8:30 a.m. Families are responsible for their child’s transportation to the program in the morning.
  • Afternoon Latch Key runs from 3 – 5 p.m. and a snack is provided. All children must be picked up no later than 5 p.m. There will be a $10 late fee for a late pick up.

Parents/Guardians must show ID to sign their child(ren) out each day.

Please note that your child(ren) must be registered in Latch Key prior to attending the program. This is not a “drop-in” program nor can it be used as one. All paperwork must be completed to enroll a student in the program. Enrollments and fees are based on a semester schedule per child.

Behavior Expectations

We expect students to contribute in a positive manner to our school community.

When significant behavioral or supervision concerns arise, the district will work collaboratively with parents/guardians to develop strategies and interventions whenever appropriate. If, after reasonable efforts, the program is unable to safely meet the child’s needs within its staffing and program structure, the district reserves the right to discontinue the child’s participation in the program.

Rules for the Latch Key program:

  • Show respect.
  • Make good decisions.
  • Solve problems.

Children who do not follow the program’s standards may be dismissed.

Reasons Your child can be dismissed from the program:

  1. Physical or verbal aggression, threats or intimidation.
  2. Swearing or use of vulgar and/or inappropriate language.
  3. Destruction of public or personal property.
  4. Continued disrespect or disobedience.
  5. Disregard for the school district’s policies on weapons, tobacco, alcohol, etc.
  6. Aggressive or threatening behavior toward any staff or children.
  7. The child’s supervision or support needs exceed what can reasonably be provided within the program’s staffing ratios while maintaining a safe and positive environment for all participants.
  8. After working collaboratively with the family and appropriate school staff, the program determines it cannot safely or effectively meet the child’s needs within the structure of the Latch Key program.
